DescriptionColle Moro Winery is a cooperative society among 700 grape growers, running almost 1300 hectare of vineyards in 15 villages. They are located in South East Abruzzo, between the “Costa dei Trabocchi” spectacular sea shores and the western slopes of the highest mountains of Italian peninsula.
People have been growing grapes for two thousands years and more in this area, well known as suitable to produce excellent fruit and wine.
Colle Moro has a strong focus on wine quality. The winery runs a severe quality product policy, based on: a vineyard classification for quality, projected by a high level technical staff; a system of fruit pricing strongly awarding the best growers; advanced technology in the cellar.
The overhead “pergola abruzzese” is the main trellis system, proved to be a very good one for quality in this terroir, and creating, among olive trees, forests and creeks, a gorgeous landscape.
The main grapes are Montepulciano d’Abruzzo (red) and Trebbiano (white) followed by precious white indigenous grapes: Pecorino, Passerina, Cococciola and Muscat of Frisa. Other grapes: Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet (red) Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc (white).
The annual Colle Moro production is about 150.000 hectolitres of wine, whose 700.000 bottles and 20.000 bag in box (the remaining sold as bulk to other bottlers).
